An In-Between Season Must Have: Trench Coat

There are some firm rules in menswear: Bermudas for summer and trench coats for autumn.
Trench coats are the perfect invention for confusing weather – too cold for a t-shirt but to warm for leather or wool
Once you have a pair of jeans, t-shirt and a cool trench coat you are all set to go. With new trends in trench coats you can either stay classic or make a statement.

PS: There are some safe zones to keep the cool look during ‘in between’ seasons. In variety of trench coat the military is, unsurprisingly, no exception.

1. The Classic

Yes. It’s the Burberry who labeled the beige trench coat. It’s classic, chic, and perfect for an urban look. It doesn’t have to be Burberry though. It’s better if it is though…

2. The Statement Option

You can be classic in autumn style with a trench coat but still make a bold statement with the pattern or colour. Stay away from khaki, beige or black and go with blue, orange, green or even red. Your trench coat can work for more than just keeping your suit dry.

3. Make a difference. Go with knee-length ones.

This option is a must for shorter men. But you can still try it even if you a tall guy. Try to stay minimalist with shorter trench coats.

4. And the military green √

The original trench coat’s khaki colouring was camouflage. It’s the key of being cool. On a more practical level, it’s also perfectly in tune with the navies and neutrals that populate your winter wardrobe.

Who Says Backpacks Are Only For Weekends?

Casual-Smart is made for a reason. So let’s use it! It has been a long time since the formal, old-school corporate look has merged with casual style. Even if you still work with a strict dress-code at office there are still some ways to break ( or let’s say ‘’bend’’) the rules silently.

First rule: If you are allowed not to wear a tie, you are allowed to wear anything. Just not sweatpants or a dirty t-shirt; but backpacks are ok. It’s the urban sophistication. There are many sleek & stylish backpacks you can wear to work. It can be practical, comfortable and chic if you get your choice right.

Here are some tips to make it work:
  • Keep your fabric choice high: Try leather or leather-like fabrics, sued, or canvas with leather details.
  • Keep it solid and muted colours such as black, grey, or beige. Navy is cool too.

How It's Done With White Denim

It was almost a century before that white trousers were only for tropical climates or holidays. Especially in summer, white trousers including jeans has, over time, emerged as a popular summer choice for fashion-conscious males in cities.

Besides that white reflects the entire spectrum of light, therefore keeping you cool – it offers a versatile option for those who are looking for a simple yet stylish way for their effortless street look.

But there is always a catch when it comes to white garments.
It’s easier to pick one than to keep one white.

How it’s done:

1.    White denim is a must for warm weather, but since it’s attention grabbing on its own, pair it with more solid and pastel colours like blues and greys.
2.    You may get away with not washing your indigo jeans for months, but not here. Keep it clean and spotless.
3.    White on white… Sure? Your shoes are good start. Just don’t go overboard, or you will end up looking like a Wimbledon player.

And here are white favourites including chinos, jeans and bermudas/shorts:

Summer Trends & Tips for Men (SS15)

Casual smart, sports luxe and streetwear influences dominating menswear industry trends for a while, bermudas and other sports-inspired shorts have become the best friends of men during summer.

If you’re into bermudas – which you must by the way - you’ll want shoes that offers the same degree of comfort and breathability.

Trainers have been in any time of our lives from office look to daily/weekend look thanks to luxury designer takes and technical runners to slip-on canvas plimsolls and even hi-tops, it goes without saying that the humble sneaker is an ideal match for jersey shorts which we may not agree with in some levels.  Sandals are our second favourite.

  •         Denim shorts + slipons or not chunky sneakers √
  •      Chino shorts + sandals + slipons √

Tips:
  • If you’re a shorter gentleman, go with nothing above ankle height or sandals, which will combine to produce the illusion of height and longer legs. When it comes to your shorts, go for a pair that finishes around mid-thigh or give the hems a couple of folds to emphasize leg length.
  • On the other hand if you have long legs go with footwear styles that have a slightly higher profile. Desert and chukka boots, along with slightly chunkier trainers, brogues and Derbies, would be ideal. Similarly, your shorts should finish on or just above the knee.

13 Style Rules That’ll Help Any Guy Look Taller (via BuzzFeed)

Source: BuzzFeed Style

1. The easiest way to gain an inch? Stand up straight!
2. Go for a skinnier tie.

3. Dress monochromatically

Do what Martin Freeman does, and wear one pattern, or one colour family all over. It’ll avoid breaking the body line.

4. But skip the Man In Black look

Black weirdly has a habit of shrinking you down (hello, Zac Efron) and making you appear smaller than you actually are. Instead, opt for a charcoal grey or blue suit.

5. When buying a suit, consider these factors.

6. Invest in tailoring

This is a no-brainer, but tailoring can seriously transform a good outfit into a great outfit. When it comes to fooling the eye and transforming your silhouette, taking things in to make them fit your body is what will have the biggest impact. Yes, it can cost you, but it can make a huge difference between looking a bit sloppy and lazy to seeming totally put together and on top of it.

7. Keep your shirts shorter.

8. And your hair, too.
9. No horizontal stripes.
10. Go for a “no break” look in your pants.

11. Keep the waist button on your jacket above your navel

Like so. It’ll give you the illusion of a longer torso and legs.

12. Wear V-Necks

The deeper the V, the better, but don't go crazy.

13. Wear your trousers at your waist
