The Ultimate Guide to Men's Watches, 2021

One of the key pieces in a man’s wardrobe is his choice of a wristwatch. Since it’s one of the few pieces of jewelry that most men feel comfortable wearing it’s also one of the few ways that they can truly express themselves and their style.

Like most accessories, we think it’s best to develop a watch wardrobe, having one or two that are great for everyday wear, some for special occasions, and others for sport or workouts.

From luxury watches to affordable prices, here is the Ultimate Guide to Men's Watches, 2021:

Rick Owens Distorts the Converse Weapon

Twenty years ago, Rick Owens viewed sneakers as “pedestrian, suburban banality.” Then he started going to the gym. He started considering how to make sneakers more him. With the Converse x DRKSHDW TURBOWPN, the classic 1986 Converse Weapon is reframed. The vibe is pure Owens.

Exaggerating both the upper and tooling, his signature touch augments the familiar lines (the Y-bar and heel cap) and the shoe is made bombastic. “When I discovered how powerful just oversizing something a little bit was, which I've done with a lot of my clothes, that became one of my tools,” Owens says.

The shoe features an elongated tongue, mirroring the TURBODRK Chuck 70. The Weapon’s outsole is nearly doubled in the TURBOWPN, forming a platform-like stance. Within, the TURBOWPN houses a CX foam drop-in and subtly reinforced toe box.

Another Owens signature is the inclusion of his DRKSHDW iconography. “One of the main things that I think it suggests is empathy and consideration of systems of living that might not be standard,” he says.

The launch black colourway reflects the Weapon’s original debut, and underscores Owens’ approach to contemporary luxury.

The Converse x DRKSHDW TURBOWPN releases August 31 at converse.com, RickOwens.eu, Rick Owens shops and select retailers.

Jeremy O. Harris Playwright, 31

Does anyone have more fun getting dressed than Jeremy O. Harris?
It isn’t easy to rock culottes and a coral clutch and make it look like a natural pairing. When he’s not overturning conventional notions of how a “serious writer” (or, hell, any man) should dress, the playwright is nestled at home in sweats, sometimes of his own design, proving you don’t have to throw on the wildest thing in your closet to dress up.

Justin Theroux Actor, 49

The past couple years have seen an upending of the tight, tailored approach to dressing that dominated the decade prior. Unless you’re Justin Theroux, who still wears skinny jeans and trim blazers like it’s 2011—and looks damn good doing it. This is a guy who knows what works for him, dialed it in years ago, and is absolutely intent on sticking with it. It’s something to aspire to.

Harry Styles Musician,  27

In a word: delightful. That’s how we’d describe Harry Styles’s, er, style. Not only because his flared trousers, fantastical knitwear, and all-around panache make music and fashion fans around the world smile at the sight of him—though that’s true, too—but also because he looks like he’s having so much fun with his clothes (and nails, and everything else). Achieve even half of that enjoyment level yourself and you’re on the right track.

Jerry Lorenzo Designer, 43

In 2020, Jerry Lorenzo emerged as a signature voice in American men’s wear, partnering with the tailoring whizzes at Zegna and churning out a Fear of God collection chock-full of strong-shouldered suiting and slouchy sweats. No one wears the brand better than Lorenzo himself. To imitate his elevated laid-back cool, just remind yourself that your swankiest sport coat need not be treated any more preciously than your trustiest sweatpants. The rest will come naturally.
